What's New at MPS-NY:

Emily C. Martinez Service Award: Martha Browne

Martha Browne, aka Mary Browne grew up in the George Street area. She later joined her only sister Rose in St Thomas, Virgin Islands and later moved onto the Bronx, New York where she joined Butler Memorial United Methodist Church.
She felt the call to serve and joined the Usher Board of which she is still an active member after 40 years. Martha loves God and loves to be of service to others; something she has also instilled in her children. Martha joined The Montserrat Progressive Society as she yearned to connect with her heritage in New York City. She held several positions, notably, member of the Board of Trustees for many years during which time she planned, facilitated and executed fundraising events.

She considers it a blessing, as a single parent, that all eleven of her children are healthy, have graduated college and are adults making contribution to society. She is the mother of eleven children, grandmother of eighteen and great grandmother of two.
